About the 2004 winners

Frederick Chang

Frederick Chang was a senior in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences in spring 2004. In addition to working on photography during his senior year, he took part in two design competitions for electrical engineers: creating a micro-mouse for an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers contest and participating in a robotics challenge sponsored by NATCAR, a university-industry partnership.

Jonathan Owens

A native of Mobile, Ala., who spent six years in the U.S. Navy before starting college, Jonathan Owens was a senior in the Department of Architecture at the time he received the Lyon Prize. He is now a graduate of the College of Environmental Design, working at Madeline Speer Associates in San Francisco, where he is a planning and design consultant and project lead.


Keeli Shaw

A senior and double major in the Departments of Political Science and Art History, Keeli Shaw’s hometown is Stockton, Calif. Her honorable mention project was titled, "Transitions: An Introduction to the Castellana Family."

Adrea Tencer

Adrea Tencer’s honorable mention was for a series of photos titled "Barbershop." In spring 2004 she was a senior in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology.
