Women of Color Conference To Feature Angela Davis

The 10th annual conference for empowering women of color will be held on campus April 22 with Angela Davis as a keynote speaker.

The conference is expected to draw activists from the campus and community to the day-long events held at Boalt Hall from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This year, the title of the conference, "Reaping Fruit and Throwing Seed," is taken from an essay by Davis who will open the program with an address at 9:45 a.m.

Davis was recently awarded a presidential chair at UC Santa Cruz where she is a professor in the history of consciousness studies.

The closing keynote address at 5 p.m. will be given by Seattle's Chicana-Native American poet, Chrystos, followed by a dinner at 6 p.m.

The cost of the conference is $15 at the door ($10 for students/seniors). For information, contact Kimberly Rockwell or Grace Chang 642-2175. For information on the accompanying film festival, call 642-1412.
