Regents Let Stand Their Previous Vote On Admissions Policy

The issue of affirmative action is once again on hold following a decision March 14 by the UC Board of Regents to indefinitely postpone a vote to rescind policies they adopted in July prohibiting consideration of race and gender in admissions.

The decision followed a similar Jan. 18 vote by a joint committee of the board to postpone the rescission proposal.

Nine Berkeley students were arrested on charges of disturbing the peace and resisting arrest during the March 14 meeting. They were cited and released.
