Campus B-Safe Signs

Victoria Harrison, campus police chief, and Nadesan Permaul, director of transportation and emergency planning, show off one of the campus's revamped night safety and access information signs [please see print edition for photo].

Used by new students and visitors to find their way around, these large signs were first put up in 1990 during the "Building the Promise" construction projects. Public Safety and Transportation Services has refurbished the signs, which had become worn, graffiti-covered and outdated.

The new signs include all of the recently completed buildings on campus, plus shuttle routes, parking and night safety services information. They also list current campus phone numbers and emergency telephones, and are lit so as to be seen easily in the evening. The new signs are located at North Gate, Hearst Mining Circle, Kroeber Plaza, Sather Gate and the West Crescent.
