Outstanding Managers
Are Selected by Their Staffs

Some 40 campus managers from a broad range of classifications were recognized for their excellent work May 7 when the Berkeley Staff Assembly presented its annual Excellence in Management Awards to a standing-room-only gathering at the Lipman Room in Barrows Hall.

"We think it speaks well for campus staff to have this many good managers recognized," said Stephanie Smith, chair of the awards committee.

Nominations originate from staff directly supervised by the nominee and must include supporting signatures from at least half of these staff.

Each year a theme is selected to coincide with the campus's human resources philosophy. The BSA Excellence in Management Award this year recognized supervisors and managers who have exhibited outstanding leadership in coaching staff to meet the challenge of organizational readiness.

Below are this year's recipients: managers and supervisors who provide employees with the information, resources and leadership necessary to build and maintain a capacity to respond to change.
