Holiday Performances with an International Flair

posted December 02, 1998

Berkeley celebrates the holiday season with a number of performances around campus, from traditional caroling and cultural dance to a zany parody of the Nutcracker.

The Lawrence Hall of Science brings music to the museum with a performance by the Golden Bough Song Troupe, Monday, Dec. 28, from noon to 1 p.m. Dressed in Dickens-style costumes, this internationally-acclaimed recording trio performs holiday songs from Ireland, Scotland and England.

Gary Lapow will entertain music lovers of all ages Tuesday, Dec. 29, from noon to 1:30 p.m., with a multicultural song festival celebrating the many different traditions of the winter holiday season.

On Friday, Jan. 1, at noon and 1 p.m., the museum celebrates Kwanzaa with music, songs and stories reflecting this holiday's emphasis on creating unity and meaning in family and community life.

Cal Performances hosts Fiesta Navidad with Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. in Zellerbach Hall. The event features the music, dance and pageantry of Mexico's regional fiestas.

The University Chamber Chorus, directed by Marika Kuzma, will travel off-campus to perform "A Musical Celebration for Christmas" at St. Mary's College in Moraga Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.
