14 Named for Hellman Family Research Grants

Fourteen junior faculty members have been awarded research grants by the Hellman Family Faculty Fund, established by Warren Hellman to help junior faculty at a crucial stage in their careers.

The 1999 awardees are: Nan Arens, assistant professor of integrative biology; Roland Burgmann, assistant professor of geology and geophysics; Cathryn Carson, assistant professor of history; Anne Cheng, assistant professor of English; Ronald Cohen, assistant professor of chemistry and geology and geophysics; Douglas Dreger, assistant professor of geology and geophysics; Kevis Goodman, assistant professor of English; Eva Harris, assistant professor of public health, William Holzapfel, assistant professor of physics; Eileen Lacey, assistant professor of integrative biology; James Landay, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer sciences; Jeffrey Long, assistant professor of chemistry; Colleen Lye, assistant professor of English; and Mary Ann Smart, assistant professor of music.
