Streamlining campus business using the Web

Posted May 10, 2000

A number of new campus Internet sites, developed by departments and the office of Vice Chancellor Horace Mitchell, allow Berkeley personnel to communicate and conduct their business more efficiently using the Web.

The sites include:

Campus Administrative Memos: Formerly distributed in hard copies through campus mail, campus administrative memos are now available via e-mail and are posted on the Web.

Delegations of Authority: Those authorized to approve official university business transactions are listed on the Delegations of Authority Web site, which is maintained and updated by the Chancellor's office. Use of proper authorization is needed in order to protect the university against liability issues.

Job Listings: It is now possible to submit job vacancy listings to Human Resources electronically. Staff may use the online form or download a PDF version to post jobs. Completed forms may be sent to jvl@uclink.berkeley.edu.

Travel Reimbursement: A new automated travel reimbursement system, now in testing, will allow those who make travel arrangements to easily track travel costs.

Maintenance Work: Using the new campus maintenance management system, employees will be able to submit requests for maintenance assistance or inquire about the status of requests on the site. The system also offers billing reports and automated notification on the status of work orders via e-mail. Currently in testing, the site is scheduled for full implementation July 1.
