Chang-LIn Tien released from hospital to home care

06 December 00 | Former chancellor Chang-Lin Tien was released from the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco Dec. 1, and returned to his Berkeley home where he will be receiving ongoing medical care.

The professor of engineering and former chancellor has been hospitalized since Sept. 7 at UCSF Medical Center, where he received treatment for a cancerous brain tumor.

Although he is alert, he has suffered some impairment. The long hospital stay has also taken a toll on his strength, said his son, Norman Tien.

"We're hoping that bringing him home will help him a great deal," he said.
