Chancellor seeks community service group members
The Chancellor's Community Service Projects Committee is accepting nominations for faculty, staff and students to join the group this semester.

The committee is an advisory group to the Cal Corps Public Service Center, awarding grant money to student-initiated community service projects working on diverse issues such as tutoring, mentoring, public health, and recruitment and retention.The committee meets occasionally throughout the year, but holds grant interviews during April requiring significant blocks of time over a week-long period.

Campus community members with an interest in public service who represent the diverse academic and extracurricular interests and pursuits of the Berkeley campus are encouraged to apply. Nominations will be accepted on a rolling basis, and candidates may nominate themselves.

Call for grant applications for Mexico projects
A 2001 call for proposals, and application forms, for UC principal investigators and graduate students doing projects related to Mexico is available from UC MEXUS.

The University of California Institute for Mexico and the United States (UC MEXUS) helps to identify, focus and augment the resources of the 10 UC campuses as they relate to research, education, creative activity and public service concerning Mexico and people of Mexican origin.

Register now for CPR Saturday, March 3
The free, annual, one-day Bay Area American Red Cross CPR Saturday returns to Hearst Gym Saturday, March 3. Registration is open now. The campus is the only East Bay site this year, so classes - open to all employees and their families, students and the public - are expected to fill quickly.

CPR Saturday began at Berkeley 20 years ago as a partnership between the campus and the Berkeley chapter of the American Red Cross. This annual event provides an opportunity for the entire Berkeley community to become trained and certified in the life-saving techniques of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Classes will be offered throughout the day, with the earliest sessions starting at 9 a.m. Training in adult CPR, rescue breathing and the Heimlich maneuver will last from 3 to 4 hours.
