Health plan information sessions scheduled

03 April 2002 | The Health Care Facilitator program will host a series of Medical Plan Information Sessions in April. Representatives from four UC medical plans will do short presentations, followed by questions and answers, to help staff and faculty make effective use of their medical benefits.

Plan representatives will cover the following information:

• General plan overview
• Selecting, utilizing and changing your primary care physician
• How referrals and specialists are handled
• Prescriptions (including mail order) and formularies
• Emergency care and out-of-area coverage
• Wellness and prevention program offerings

All sessions will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. in 150 University Hall. No pre-registration is required. Dates for the sessions are:

• Pacificare: Tuesday, April 9
• Health Net: Monday, April 15
• UC Care and Core: Wednesday, April 17
• Kaiser: Monday, April 22

Medicare versions of the plans will be addressed as follows:

• Pacificare: Information about Secure Horizons will be included in the noon session.
• Health Net: A Seniority Plus representative will hold a separate session from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., preceding the regular Health Net session on April 15.
• UC Care, Core and High Option Supplement: a separate presentation from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (April 17) will cover the Medicare versions of Aetna’s plans.
• Kaiser: Information about Senior Advantage will be included in the noon session.
