01 May 2002 | UC Police Officer Mitchell Celaya and his son, Nile, enjoy a moment together at Take Our Children to Work Day, Thursday, April 25. Children of campus employees, as well as visiting middle school students, got to shadow adults in their work lives and learn about careers.

The day on campus included visits to the Seismology Laboratory, KALX radio station, the campus television studio, the School of Optometry, and dozens of other sites. At midday, 1,200 children and employees converged on Memorial Glade to eat hot dogs and ice cream, collect balloons and Cal tattoos, and meet the campus mascot, Oski.
