08 May 2002 | The latest trends in bioengineering were on display May 5-6 at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, where more than 200 students and faculty from UC campuses — as well as representatives from Agilent, Bayer, NASA Ames and other companies and agencies — gathered for a two-day 2002 UC Systemwide Biomedical Engineering Symposium. During a poster session at the event, graduate student Shelly Gulati, right, explained her work with DNA solution flow in microchannels to Associate Professor of Bioengineering Dorian Liepmann, foreground, postdoctoral student Brian Carlson, left, and research associate Jim Birch. The conference also featured
a job fair and lectures by distinguished scientists.
