An international campus

On this edition of Bear in Mind, UC Berkeley's ongoing series of webcasts about campus issues, Chancellor Robert Birgeneau engages Cal students in a conversation about the impact and import of the growing international presence on campus.

This fall just over 4,000 international students from more than 100 countries are studying at the university, and approximately 1,000 undergraduates are expected to participate in the UC Education Abroad Program during the current academic year.

Topics covered include:

  • The importance of intercultural competency in a globalized world
  • The educational benefits of a geographically diverse campus community
  • Personal experiences of international students enrolled at UC Berkeley
  • The value of participation in Education Abroad programs
