Berkeley freshmen "Initiative Madness" students take to the blogsphere to comment on tonight's televised exchange

– Students in UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism senior lecturer Susan Rasky's freshman seminar, "Initiative Madness," will be blogging live tonight (Oct. 24) as California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Democratic opponents go on television to trade arguments over the ballot measures for the November 8 Special Election.

Concurrent with a 6 p.m. broadcast by KTVU (Channel 2) of this event focusing on Propositions 74, 75, 76 and 77, the Berkeley freshmen will file live commentary on a special Contra Costa Times discussion board. The public also has been invited to participate in the online discussion. The students will watch the televised debate at a public viewed hosted by the Institute for Governmental Studies in Moses Hall.

Previously, students in the class launched an ongoing blog called Initiative Madness. As they say on the site, "We are the Initiative Madness Bloggers, a class of 13 UC Berkeley freshmen trying to make sense of the crazy world of California politics. There's a Special Election coming up, so watch this space for information, discussion and commentary that demystifies the eight measures on the November 8 ballot."
