WHAT
"Iraq: Reports from the Frontlines," a panel discussion at the University of California, Berkeley, with leading news correspondents discussing their experiences covering Iraq.
A 30-minute segment of "The War Tapes," in which a New Hampshire National Guard unit recorded its own stories in Iraq, will precede the discussion. This is the first documentary about the war filmed by soldiers in Iraq. The unit's complete 90-minute documentary, from the producers of the Oscar-winning film "Fog of War," will be released later this spring. A book-signing will follow the panel discussion.

The panel includes:
John Burns, Baghdad bureau chief for The New York Times and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting in 1993 and 1997
Jackie Spinner, staff writer and former Baghdad bureau chief for The Washington Post and author of the recently released "Tell Them I Didn't Cry: A Young Journalist's Story of Joy, Loss, and Survival in Iraq"
Anna Badkhen, a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer who has covered wars in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Chechnya and Kashmir
Mark Danner, professor at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism and a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books, who has reported on the Middle East
Orville Schell, dean of the Graduate School of Journalism, who recently visited Iraq and observed the conditions under which journalists there are working.
Sgt. Steve Pink, who contributed to "The War Tapes," will introduce the film along with director Deborah Scranton, who supplied the video gear to his National Guard unit.
