Soil testing near Memorial Stadium begins July 10

Geotechnical work to explore subsurface conditions near California Memorial Stadium and gather information for design and construction of the proposed Student Athlete High Performance Center will begin on Monday, July 10. The work is expected to be completed in five weeks.

Several trenches will be dug and holes drilled, allowing engineers to examine and test the soils that will support the proposed building.

Hours of construction are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, although construction activity will end around 4 p.m. most days. Intermittent noise, such as jack-hammering, is expected.

The project will adhere to regulations concerning safety, dust, dirt, exhaust fumes, and storm-water runoff. All work areas will be secured with temporary fencing for safety. Emergency access routes will be maintained at all times; some parking spaces near the stadium will be inaccessible due to the work.

For questions about the work, contact Dick Raymond of the project management team, (415) 798-0019 or dick_raymond@urscorp.com.
