Expected fall enrollment

  • 4,200 new freshmen, 2,000 new transfer students, 2,775 new graduate students

Ethnic breakdown:  

  • 47 percent Asian-American
  • 30 percent Caucasian
  • 12 percent Chicano/Latino
  • 3.4 percent African American
  • 0.5 percent Native American
  • The remainder declined to report ethnic status or checked "other."

  • Bay Area's nine counties – 35 percent
  • Los Angeles County – 26 percent
  • Other parts of Southern California – 18 percent
  • Remainder of Northern California – 12 percent

Underrepresented minorities

  • 16 percent, an increase from 14.5 percent in fall 2005

Women

  • Same as fall 2005 – 55 percent

First-generation college-goers

  • 19 percent, up from last year's 16.5 percent

Grade point average

  • Stronger than ever, slightly higher than last year – 3.83 unweighted and 4.26 weighted. Five students received perfect SAT scores of 2400.
