Roll on, you high-def Bears!

BERKELEY – During the Dec. 28 Holiday Bowl, when the Cal Bears will play the Texas A&M Aggies in San Diego, a 30-second video about UC Berkeley will air during the broadcast on ESPN. The spot will celebrate Cal academics and athletics, and show off the beautiful campus.

This is UC Berkeley's first video spot to be filmed and broadcast in high-definition television (HDTV). A new version of the message will air during basketball broadcasts, and a longer one will appear on UC Berkeley's website spring semester.

During the separate radio broadcast of the Holiday Bowl on KGO 810AM, listeners will hear the Golden Bear Halftime Report, a two-minute interview with former Cal and NFL football coach Mike White, who's now the manager of Cal's Lair of the Bear summer camp, Camp Blue.  There'll also be a 60-second spot featuring Cal professor Alex Filippenko, who just received the national Professor of the Year award, and Brighitte Preciado, a Cal Band member and one of the most sought-after campus tour guides.
