This video shows UC Berkeley researchers at the Hayden Quarry excavation site, in Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, in July, 2007. The video and news release is embargoed until 2 p.m. EDT (11 A.M. PDT) Thursday, July 19th.

The video includes shots of the researchers excavating fossils and interview soundbites from Randall Irmis and Nate Smith, graduate students at UC Berkeley. Irmis is a co-author of the paper to be published in Science magazine on Friday, July 20th. The paper describes fossils discovered at Hayden Quarry that show for the first time that dinosaurs and their non-dinosaur ancestors lived side by side for tens of millions of years, disproving the notion that dinosaurs rapidly replaced their supposedly outmoded predecessors.

Note: The indoor shots in the video (at Ghost Ranch Ruth Hall Museum of Paleontology) do not include fossils from the recent discovery.
