California Alumni Association now offers a year-round guest resort adjacent to its family summer camp

| 25 June 2009

California Alumni Association (CAA) has purchased Pinecrest Chalet, a year-round vacation and cabin resort in the Stanislaus National Forest on the Tuolumne River's north fork, in Pinecrest, Calif. Built in the 1950s and located on seven acres of U.S. Forest Service land, the chalet is adjacent to the Lair of the Golden Bear, CAA's camp for UC Berkeley alumni and their families.

Pinecrest Chalet offers accommodations for parties as small as two or as large as 14 — from simple bed-and-bath cabins to multi-room lodging featuring kitchens, fireplaces, and Jacuzzi tubs. Onsite seasonal recreation includes a heated swimming pool; basketball, volleyball, and horseshoe courts; a playground; and a large amphitheater for outdoor group gatherings. Guests also have access to neighboring Pinecrest Lake in summer and nearby ski resorts (such as Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, three miles away) in winter months.

The chalet does not currently have a lodge or facility for group meetings and retreats, although CAA is considering converting existing buildings for that purpose.

For information or to make reservations, call (209) 965-3276 or see the Pinecrest Chalet website.
