By Diana Musto

Cal Day, the University of California, Berkeley’s annual open house and preview day – to be held this year on Saturday, April 17 – offers visitors of all ages an inside look at the world’s leading public research university. Admission is free to all, including children who want to see a giant T. rex, families who want to explore campus museums, and prospective students looking for information on academic programs.

Cal Day hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Campus tours via a motorized cable car will be offered throughout the day. The open house also will feature lectures on ground-breaking research, performances by the Cal Band, and Pac-10 sports competitions.

Shuttle buses will ferry visitors from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Parking on campus is limited, but BART and AC Transit provide extensive options for public transportation.

A complete schedule of Cal Day activities will be available at calday.berkeley.edu by Thursday, March 25. For more information, the public can call (510) 642-2294.
