Slide 1: Welcome

Slide 2: History & Tradition

Text: Berkeley is the oldest of the UC campuses and serves as the flagship of California's public university system. Rich in traditions, such as a commitment to civil rights and liberties, the campus's history continues to be written as new generations of students pass through its hallowed gates.

Slide 3: World-Class Faculty

Text: Even first-year students may find themselves in a classroom with one of Berkeley's 7 Nobel laureates, 17 MacArthur Fellows, 119 members of the National Academy of Sciences, 70 Fulbright Scholars, or 3 Pulitzer Prize winners. These faculty members and their distinguished colleagues choose to teach and study at Berkeley because of its proud legacy of innovative thinking and exceptional scholarship.

Slide 4: World-Class Students

Text: UC Berkeley currently ranks third nationally among all institutions for the number of freshmen who are National Merit Scholars. The campus also produces more graduates who go on to earn Ph.D.s than any other university in the country. However, Cal students share more than strong academic records -- they have all demonstrated the potential to add to Berkeley's rich intellectual community and spirit of pluralism.

Slide 5: Diversity & Variety

Text: Berkeley's acclaimed faculty and talented students represent a wide range of disciplines, ideologies, ethnicities, cultures, interests, and perspectives. Students come from all over the world, and their richly diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds give the campus a unique vitality and spirit.

Slide 6: Science & Research

Text: Berkeley's research programs, which rank among the best in the world, give students the opportunity to study with top experts in many fields. Students also have access to some of the same laboratories, libraries, and specialized equipment used in Berkeley's groundbreaking research -- as well as the exceptional minds behind it.

Slide 7: Humanities & Social Sciences

Text: Berkeley's acclaimed humanities and social science programs seek to deepen students' understanding of themselves and the world. The campus's renowned libraries, museums, and research centers reflect this commitment to intellectual and social engagement.

Text: The arts are a central, thriving force in campus life, both as a field of study and a mode of enjoyment. Cal Performances brings a staggering variety of music, dance, and theater arts to campus from around the world, and campus museums house thousands of paintings, sculptures, and cinema titles.

Slide 9: Libraries

Text: With nine million volumes, Berkeley's library holdings are the fourth largest in North America and contain some of the finest research collections in the United States. There are more than 30 libraries on campus, serving students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.

Slide 10: Wired Campus

Text: Berkeley encourages students to explore the Internet's growing significance. Projects like the Interactive University, a K-12 outreach program, mobilize the power of the Internet to create change, while web-savvy faculty and world-class academic programs prepare students for the changing workplace.

Slide 11: Student Life

Text: Whether tutoring youth in the local community, skiing in Tahoe, or playing saxophone in the Cal Band, Berkeley students have unlimited opportunities for nonacademic exploration. With more than 500 student groups on campus, Cal students are never without new skills, sports, or interests to pursue.

Slide 12: Cal Athletics

Text: A proud member of the PAC-10 Conference, Cal boasts one of the nation's finest intercollegiate athletic programs with 26 teams, more than 46 national team championships, and 101 NCAA individual titles. All students can participate in the campus's comprehensive intramural sports program and take advantage of its gymnasiums, pools, weight rooms, and squash, handball, racquetball, and tennis courts.

Slide 13: Park-Like Setting

Text: Known for its architectural and historical landmarks, the 1,232-acre Berkeley campus preserves much of the tranquil beauty of California's early years. The campus is an oasis of lush vegetation, flowing streams, and spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay and the Berkeley hills.

Slide 14: Bay Area

Text: The San Francisco Bay Area -- most of which is accessible via public transit -- offers an extraordinary array of cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities. Students and campus visitors also enjoy exploring the city of Berkeley, particularly the color and vitality of nearby Telegraph Avenue.
