Free Campus Tours

There are now many ways to tour the UC Berkeley campus — with a student guide, on-site or at home with a podcast in English or Spanish, on your own with our tour-by-cell-phone, or virtually, with our online tour filled with sights and facts. To get oriented, start with the campus map.

Guided Campus Walking Tours
Free campus walking tours are available daily, seven days a week. The 90-minute tours are led by trained student guides, experts on the Berkeley campus and student life. No reservations are required for fewer than 10 people.

Special schedule for March 17 to April 30 only
  • Additional tours will depart weekdays at 1 p.m. from the Visitor Center and Saturdays at 1 p.m. from the Campanile.
  • Spring Recess at UC Berkeley is March 24-28. Regular tours are available Monday through Thursday of that week, departing from the Visitor Center. The campus is closed on Friday, March 28, but a tour will depart from the Campanile at 10 a.m.

Self-Guided Tours
Want to strike out on your own? We offer three ways to get the most out of your time. Information on each is available at the Visitor Center or may be downloaded as noted.

  • Podcast tours: Use your iPod, MP3 player, or home computer to guide you with our video podcast tour, in English or Spanish. Download the free tour; click on Campus Life/Explore Cal. (A limited number of iPods are available on loan at the Visitor Center.)
  • Tour by cell phone: Need a quicker tour? Use your cell phone to dial up information on any of 12 campus sites. Download the special map to find the sites.
  • Walking tour: Allow two hours for this comprehenive look at the physical campus — begin at the Visitor Center or at any point along the tour. Download our walking tour brochure (2.1 Mb PDF), which includes a campus map and key. Or you can download just the map components:
