Faculty have until Nov. 23 to submit proposals for the Research Task Assistant Stipend Program, which will give 100 Berkeley undergraduates $1,000 research stipends to work on special projects.
Funded by the Chancellor's Undergraduate Student Employment Incentive Program in recognition of the rising costs of undergraduate education, this program will allow undergraduates to do advanced research while working to satisfy their own financial needs. Students do not need to qualify for financial aid to participate.
Faculty should submit proposals indicating the research tasks they have for an undergraduate assistant by Nov. 23. For information, call Terry Strathman at 642-3795.
A list of the selected projects will be made available to students in early December. Students will need to submit applications by Jan. 23 to be considered.
Bears on Parade
Children are invited to bring their teddy bears to Pacific Film Archive for the "Teddy Bear Parade and Film Festival" over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The annual event, now in its 11th year, offers four animated and live-action films about bears, a gift balloon for each child, and a parade for children and their stuffed animals marching to the tune of "The Teddy Bears' Picnic."
The 70-minute event will be presented at 1 pm and 2:30 pm on Saturday, Nov. 26, and Sunday, Nov. 27. Admission is $3.50.

Our Changing Family
Getting beyond media stereotypes and solving problems of Latino and Chicano children and families in their own cultural tradition is the goal of an upcoming one-day course Nov. 19 presented by UC Berkeley Extension.
Participants will explore contemporary urban culture and learn a range of strategies for working with US native-born Chicanos and Latinos, as well as recent immigrants.
The class is taught be Concha Saucedo and is offered as part of the series "Children and the Changing Family." It meets at 55 Laguna St., San Francisco. The fee is $125.
Bring Toys and Food To Evans Hall
The Third Annual Evans Hall food and toy drive is under way through Dec. 15.
Donations of nutritious canned or ready-to-eat food are appreciated, as are new, unwrapped toys.
All food will be donated to the Alameda County Food Bank. Toys will be given to the United States Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program. Donations should be left in 966 Evans.
