Comments On Faculty Consulting Policy Due By March 24

Academic Personnel Manual Section 025A - Outside Employment is currently under formal review and comments are invited.

Currently, there is a general statement that outside employment should not interfere with university duties.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that a faculty member's primary commitment is to the university. As the draft states, this means that after obligations to the university have been met, a full-time faculty member may undertake outside activities, on average, for no more than one day per week.

The proposed policy also provides exceptions approved at the campus level.

Copies of the draft documents are available at the reference desks of Doe and Moffitt libraries. Comments should be sent by March 24 to The Vice Chancellor and Provost Christ, in care of Patti Owen, Office of Academic Personnel, 200 California Hall.
