Employee Development And Training

New Employee Orientation. Aug. 5 or 19, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

This orientation covers campus structure, campus culture, benefits, computer competency and safety related issues.

Presentations addressing these issues are given by staff from the campus police department; Environment, Health and Safety; University Health Services; and the campus benefits office.

CARE Services

Elder Care Support Group. June 18 to continue on first and third Wednesdays of each month, noon-1 p.m. Room 3104, Tang Center.

Discover a supportive environment on campus to discuss issues relevant to you as a caregiver. Meetings on June 18, July 16 and Aug. 20 will feature a drop-in question and answer format, offering the opportunity to ask questions of the elder care counselor. Summer Walking Group. June 2-Aug. 15, 12:10 p.m., Campanile. Free. No enrollment necessary.

Walkers meet at the Campanile Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Enjoy the benefits of walking by taking a 30-minute walk through the campus with some of your peers. Set your own pace from moderate to brisk.

Every time you come to walk you'll get an entry form for a free drawing. Prizes include a Family Gold Card (good for all athletic home sports events during the 1997-'98 season), The Wellness Guide to Lifelong Fitness, a free 4- to 6-week CalFIT class, lunch for two at The Faculty Club's Kerr Dining Room and more. Winners are announced the last Wednesday of each month.

Fitness Walking. July 8 and 10, 12:10-1 p.m.

Discover how to turn your walking and striding technique into a workout. Design your personal walking program and tailor it to your level of fitness and goals. Practice warm-up stretches, speed and posture for beginning to experienced walkers. Wear comfortable clothes and well-cushioned shoes.
