Figures In For Campus Team's AIDS Walk Ante

The 141 members of the campus community who made up the Berkeley team at the July 1997 AIDS Walk San Francisco raised a total of $9,174 for Bay Area AIDS organizations.

The combined UC team, with 902 walkers for various campuses, was the largest at this year's annual fundraiser. It raised $57,879, placing UC seventh among the more than 600 teams from business, government, school and community organizations. Four of the six teams who raised more than UC have matching corporate gift programs.

The total raised at the 1997 benefit was over $3.5 million. Since 1990, UC participants have raised $405,870 for the fight against AIDS and HIV.

The Office of Community Relations coordinates Berkeley's participation in the annual event.
