Homecoming, Reunion and Parents Weekend

posted September 23, 1998

The campus population is expected to increase by about 4,000 as visitors from around the country attend Berkeley's Homecoming, Reunion and Parents Weekend Sept. 24-27.

The four-day event will include faculty seminars representing every campus school and college, free admission to the campus museums (for registered participants), various lunches and receptions, the Cal vs. Washington State football game, a pre-game rally at the Greek Theatre, and a 5K fun run/walk.

In the past, the Cal Parents, Homecoming and Reunion weekends were all held separately, but this year they have been combined to provide more opportunities for all who attend.

Special events for parents will include a parents' reception at the Faculty Club Friday evening, a welcome from the Chancellor Saturday morning, and a parents' picnic in Memorial Glade Saturday afternoon.

Along with reunions held by the classes of '48, '58, '68, '73, '78,'83, '88 and '93, student groups and campus organizations will hold Homecoming/Reunion events throughout the weekend.

An event open to all members of the Cal community -- the All Bear Bash -- is both a football rally and a kick-off for Homecoming, Reunion and Parents weekend. The rally, which will take place 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at the Hearst Greek Theatre, will include performances by the UC Men's Octet, the Golden Overtones and the Cal Marching Band.
