Time Approaches to Order 2000 Cars
Departments interested in purchasing new vehicles during the 2000 model year should contact fleet services to place their orders.
The deadline for placing orders through the state contract varies according to make and model, but most categories will remain open through February.
Use of the contract is mandated by the state of California's planned purchasing agreements. Campus departments must adhere to the contract and various ordering windows.
Departments that miss the window must wait until the next one opens.

Holiday Gifts Should Be Sent Home
Mail Services would like to remind those on campus not to have incoming personal packages shipped by the U.S. Postal Service to campus addresses.
Unlike other carriers, such as UPS or Federal Express, the Postal Service will not deliver to campus departments, but to Mail Services' main office. Mail Services will not deliver these packages, however, they will send a notice to the addressee asking them to pick up the package.
Also, personal, stamped outgoing mail, such as holiday greeting cards, should not be mailed at work.
For information, visit the Mail Services Web site at mailservices.berkeley.edu or call 643-6245.
An article in the Nov. 10 issue incorrectly identified Nancy Scheper-Hughes as an associate professor. Scheper-Hughes is a professor. The same article incorrectly identified Lawrence Cohen, an associate professor, as professor.
