2000-2001 Graduate Division Diversity Grants Program
The Graduate Division is accepting applicants for the 2000-2001 Diversity Grants Program, which supports research or programs that focus on the development of a diverse graduate community at Berkeley or any other institutions.
Grants up to $5,000 will be awarded for proposals that present innovative strategies and approaches to recruit and retain a diverse graduate community. Departmental members including faculty, staff and graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals.
The grants will be awarded for the best proposals from the following categories: research of prior practices, implementation of new programs and professional development of graduate students.
Applications can be obtained from 424 Sproul Hall, 4th floor. Applications are also available online at (www.grad.berkeley.edu/events/gdmemo/grntsmmo.htm).
The deadline for submission of proposals is April 3, and awards will be announced on May 3.

Managers' Class Covers Health and Safety Issues
Health*Matters is offering a new, interactive class designed to assist managers and supervisors with their role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment. "Excellence in Supervision: Promoting a Safe and Healthy Work Environment, will be held March 30 from 8:10 a.m. to noon.
The class covers supervisory responsibilities for health and safety, developing a prevention action plan, how to investigate and action steps when an injury occurs and campus resources. It is co-taught by Environment Health & Safety and University Health Services. To enroll, call 643-4646.
