Revised polices manual available

The Office of the President has redesigned the Personnel Policies for Staff Members manual to include the new Veteran's Day holiday. The manual is available from the Fulfillment House (KP Corporation) at no charge (part # 6501).

Departments are encouraged to order copies of the redesigned manual for new hires and current employees who are governed by the Personnel Policies, as well as for administrative use.

The manual also is available on the Web in HTML and PDF formats.

Regents revise investment guidelines

The Board of Regents has revised investment guidelines for the university's various pension fund assets, including the UC Retirement Plan, the General Endowment Pool and the Equity and Bond Portfolio investment options offered by the Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan and Defined Contribution Plan.

Information about these investment policies and the review that led to the changes is now available on the Office of the President "News and Facts" Web site.

Comments sought on proposed policy revisions

The university seeks comments on proposed revisions to several policies:

Conflict of Commitment and Outside Activities of Faculty Members (APM - 025); Additional Compensation/Additional Teaching (APM - 662 Appendix B-1); and Leaves of Absence/Sabbatical Leaves, Other Employment During Sabbatical Leave (APM-740-19).

The proposed policies are available online. Also available online is a summary highlighting differences between the current and proposed policy.

Direct questions or comments to APpolicy@uclink.berkeley.edu or to Patti Owen at 642-5626. Deadline for comments is November 15.

Correction

An announcement in the August 23 issue listed the search committee membership for the new university librarian incorrectly. Because of an editing error, Marian Koshland was listed as a committee member. Instead the announcement should have listed Norma Kobzina of the Marian Koshland Bioscience and Natural Resources Library as a committee member. Also, Kerry McDermott should have been listed as staff to the committee.
