Updating campus directory listings

Faculty and staff must add new listings or update their individual campus directory listing online at cpd.berkeley.edu/update/. Changes can be made at any time and are reflected immediately in the online directory.

Additions and corrections should be completed online by September 29, to appear in the printed version of the 2000-2001 Berkeley campus telephone directory.

Medicare and UC health benefits

How do UC health benefits coodinate with Medicare? Campus staff can explore this and related questions at a September 19 workshop on "Medicare and Your UC Health Benefits."

The session is open to all campus employees and targeted specially for employees who will soon become eligible for Medicare benefits (usually at age 65). It will provide an overview of the Medicare program, identify issues to consider when selecting a plan, and detail steps to take with UC, Medicare and your health plan to successfully complete enrollment in Medicare.

The session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in 150 University Hall. To enroll, call the Retirement Center at 642-5461. For program information, call Deborah Lloyd at 643-7547 or Shelley Glazer at 643-3212.

Cal Rainbow Pride welcome event is Sept. 8

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the second annual Cal Rainbow Pride welcome celebration, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, in the first floor atrium of Cesar Chavez Student Center.

The free event will feature a welcome address by Richard Rodriguea, entertainment by lesbian comedian Mo Brownsey, food from La Mediterrannee, as well as door prizes and information.

The welcome celebration is sponsored by the Queer Resource Center and LGBT Services (a component of the Office of Student Life). For information, call Billy Curtis at 643-5728.

Redesigning retirement conference at Clark Kerr

September 22 is the deadline to register for "Redesigning Retirement," a one-day conference at Clark Kerr Conference Center, Saturday, October 7, featuring nationally prominent experts in the field of aging and retirement.

Sponsored by the Berkeley Retirement Center and the Academic Geriatric Resource Program, the conference will present retirement as a time of great potential for older adults, and explore the opportunities now available to retirees.
