Chancellor to take medical leave in February

23 January 2002 |

Jan. 16, Chancellor Berdahl issued the following message to members of the campus community.

Dear colleagues:

I write to let you know that, beginning Feb. 7, I will not be available for meetings for roughly three weeks, while I recover from surgery for prostate cancer.

Fortunately, I was diagnosed at a very early and treatable stage and I am confident of a full recovery.

After a brief hospitalization, I will be recovering and working from home and I will be reachable, on a more limited basis, via e-mail and through my office.

During my absence, Executive Vice Chancellor Paul Gray will fulfill many of the responsibilities that would normally fall to me. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Robert M. Berdahl
