Science and math for all


17 April 2002 | Michele de Coteau, Ď88, left, chats with Caroline Kane, adjunct profesor of molecular and cell biology, at an April 12 reception honoring seven alumni whose academic careers started in high school with help from the campusís Professional Development Program. This Academic Senate program provides educational enrichment and support to high school and undergraduate students in science and math.

De Couteau will serve, along with the six other alumni, on a new board whose mission is to strengthen the programís financial base. A Berkeley graduate in materials science and engineering and a Rhodes Scholar, she currently heads the campusís Charles Tunstall Multicultural Engineering Program. Kane is acting faculty director for the Professional Development Program.
