19 September 2002 | More than 400 people were on hand Sept. 10 for the Chancellor’s reception for newly retired staff and faculty, this year also celebrating the fifth anniversary of the UC Berkeley Retirement Center. Greeting each other at the Clark Kerr Campus event were Professors Emeriti Donald Riley of psychology and Robert Connick of chemistry. In the background are Louise Taylor, president of the UC Berkeley Emeriti Association, and Professor Emeritus Larry Waldron of ecosystem science, chair of the systemwide UC Emeriti Association. The center, one of only five of its kind in the country, serves about 12,000 retired staff, faculty, and their spouses or surviving spouses, with special programs, classes, computer training, fitness activities, and field trips.
