It's full steam ahead as Berkeley prepares to launch the New Century Campaign.
Chancellor Chang-Lin Tien has tapped four alumni to head the drive:

John Hotchkis, '54, a general partner with Hotchkis & Wiley, investment management and consulting service in Los Angeles;
F. Warren Hellman, '55, partner in San Francisco's Hellman and Friedman, a private investment banking firm;
Carl J. Stoney, Jr., '67, attorney, past president of the California Alumni Association, and chair of the UC Berkeley Foundation board's external affairs committee;
Nadine Tang, '75, clinical social worker and chair of the UC Berkeley Foundation board's international committee.
Each of the co-chairs brings expertise and reputation to the campaign, as well as a large network of alumni and friends. The appointments come in the closing months of the "quiet phase" of the campaign, spearheaded by Peter E. Haas, '40.
