Turner Tops Grad Speakers List
Media mogul and environmentalist Ted Turner addressed graduates of the College of Natural Resources at commencement ceremonies May 19. Turner was one of several notable speakers at this year's series of school, college, and department graduation ceremonies for approximately 9,500 graduate and undergraduate students. Other speakers included: 1995 chemistry Nobelist Mario J. Molina, PhD'72; Diogo Frietas do Amaral, president of the UN General Assembly; Michael Boskin, '67, MA'68, PhD'71, former chief economics adviser to President Bush; Leroy Chiao, '83, NASA astronaut; Robert Epstein, '74, MS'76, PhD'80, co-founder of Sybase Corp.; and, Robert Hass, professor of English and U.S. poet laureate.
