This free, annual event, geared toward middle school and high school students, is being sponsored by a group of area educational institutions known as the East Bay Consortium of Educational Institutions, Inc. (Cal-SOAP).

Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Among the schools that will have representatives at the event are historically black colleges and universities, various campuses of the California State University and University of California systems, as well as private institutions including Holy Names University, St. Mary's College of California, Mills College and University of San Francisco. In addition, a panel of college students will discuss the importance of keeping college as a goal, and representatives of the standardized testing industry will talk about preparing for required college admissions tests.
