During a campus emergency, the fastest ways to receive protective guidance and pertinent updates from University officials are SMS text messages via WarnMe and push notifications via the UC Berkeley Safety App (Apple / Android). Please take the necessary steps to ensure that you’re set up to receive both.

If you hear the campus’s outdoor warning sirens
The campus conducts regular tests of its outdoor warning sirens at 12:00pm on the first Wednesday of each month. Not all campus emergencies necessitate the use of the outdoor warning sirens. However, if you hear the sirens, you should:
- Shelter in place
- Shut doors and windows
- Seek additional instructions and information from official University channels
